The Weekend Edition #9

Happy Friday and Happy November! Did you have a fun Halloween? At the last minute, I decided to dress up as Emily from the show Emily in Paris and had so much fun pretending to be her for the day. Now I’m back to being myself and writing the latest installment of The Weekend Edition. A series where I share a mini medley of ideas and reviews for you to peruse. Enjoy! P.S. I think Emily would be a fan of The Chapman Chronicles.

📺 Maxton Hall – The World Between Us on PrimeAll Ruby Bell wants is to get into Oxford University, which is why she’s on scholarship at the elite high school, Maxton Hall. She spends most of her time studying and trying to stay invisible to her snobbish classmates. When Ruby discovers an explosive secret about one of the most prominent families at the school, she’s suddenly not so anonymous anymore, and the most popular guy in school, James Beaufort, now knows her by name. I am OBSESSED with this show!! It’s a German show, but please do not let the language barrier keep you from giving it a chance. It’s so dang good. You can either watch it dubbed in English (that was the automatic setting on my Prime account), or you can watch it in German with English subtitles. Personally, I prefer viewing it in its original language and just reading the subtitles, but do whatever works for you. Prime has already announced season 2 will be released sometime next year. I can’t wait!

✍️ Are people over Superhero movies? My boyfriend would say no, but I’m thinking maybeeee.

🎧 The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu MandannaAn isolated witch takes a job as a magic tutor and finds a quirky new family that changes the course of her life. Mandanna’s writing felt like a warm hug. The setting and the descriptive details created the coziest environment. I love books that have a “found family” storyline, and this one was extra heartwarming. Add this book to your TBR if you’re searching for a lighthearted, magical novel to read/listen to while you unwind from the day.

💿 I can’t stop humming Maggie Rogers’ latest single, In The Living Room

🛍 Even though the holidays aren’t here yet, the beauty advent calendars sure are, and if you want one, you better act fast before they sell out. The Strategist rounded up 10 of the best beauty advent calendars to buy and even shared how they determine what’s considered a good advent calendar. I haven’t treated myself to a beauty advent calendar in years, but the one from Bluemercury seems to be calling my name.

🧴Actress Lili Reinhart launched her skincare line Personal Day that’s targeted for people with acne-prone skin. My skin has been pretty clear (knocks on wood), so I’m not in a rush to go out and buy her products just yet. However, if you do suffer from acne, I’ve seen some positive reviews about the new brand.

🍲 Spaghetti & Spinach with Sun-Dried Tomato Cream Sauce – a simple pasta dish that requires minimal effort for a maximal amount of flavor. There were a few tweaks I made. First – I added an extra clove of garlic (you can never have too much!). Second – I added shrimp to the pasta for extra protein. Third – I added a lot more parmesan cheese. Like a lot, a lot of cheese. I’m sure the amount of Parmesan cheese I added would no longer qualify this dish to be featured on a site called, Eating Well, but the result was super tasty!

Thanks for reading!

That’s all for today. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
