The Weekend Edition #16

Happy Friday and happy Valentine’s Day my lovely readers! It’s time for another installment of The Weekend Edition. A series where I share a grab-bag of links and reviews for you to peruse. Think of it as a little dose of joy to start your weekend. Enjoy!

✍️ Best Valentine’s Day Candy, Ranked – It’s Valentine’s Day, so why not satisfy your sweet tooth with some of the best Valentine’s Day candy around — at least according to Mia from The Cut. I was pretty happy with the overall rankings of the candy. Although, I would have moved Dove Chocolate to the #1 slot, and my beloved Sweetart Conversation Hearts would definitely be ranked in the the top five!

📚 The Seven Year Slip by Ashely PostonClementine’s aunt had always said her apartment was a pinch in time, a place where moments blended together like watercolor, but Clementine never thought her aunt was being literal about the apartment’s little quirk. Until, Clementine moves into her late aunt’s apartment and finds a cute stranger with kind eyes and a Southern drawl standing in the kitchen. It turns out her aunt had agreed for him to stay in the apartment for the summer…except that agreement was made seven years in the past, and Clementine, quite literally, lives seven years in his future. If I didn’t have a hot date at the bowling alley tonight, I would totally celebrate Valentine’s Day by curling up on the couch and rereading this charming romance. I loved the time-travel element, and I’m a sucker for romance where the love interest works in the culinary world (Yes, Chef!).

📺 Getting Lost with Erin French on Magnolia Network & MAXIt’s winter, and The Lost Kitchen in Freedom, Maine is closed for the season. So Chef Erin French and her husband Michael packs up their Airstream and embarks on a cross-country road trip to discover new ingredients and inspiration for another season at the restaurant. I’ve been a fan of Erin French after reading her poignant memoir, Finding Freedom, a few years ago. Now eating at The Lost Kitchen (or at least visiting the restaurant) is on my bucket list. In her latest show, Getting Lost with Erin French, expect to find yourself hungry, inspired and being completely consumed with wanderlust after every episode.

🎥 A Real Pain on Hulu Mismatched cousins David (Jesse Eisenberg) and Benji (Kieran Culkin) tour Poland to honor their late grandmother. Their adventure becomes complicated as old tensions resurface while exploring their family history. I’m currently trying to watch as many Oscar nominated films as I can before the awards ceremony in March. Last weekend, I watched A Real Pain, which has two nominations: Best Supporting Actor (Kieran Culkin) and Best Original Screenplay (Jesse Eisenberg). Overall, I thought the movie was wonderful and highly recommend it!

Thanks for reading!
