The Super Bowl Weekend Edition

Happy Friday! Welcome to a special Weekend EditionThe Super Bowl Weekend Edition. Today’s issue is full of ideas to help you celebrate the big game on Sunday. Enjoy!

📺 Super Bowl LIX on Fox – To get us ready for the Kansas City Chiefs vs Philadelphia Eagles game at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on Sunday, I asked The Chapman Chronicles’ Sports Analyst aka my boyfriend, Jake, some questions about the upcoming Super Bowl game!

Leah: For some of us, the Super Bowl will be the first and only football game we have tuned into all season, so can you catch us up on how the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles have been doing this year?

Jake: So I’ll start with the Eagles since they are my favorite team. The Eagles finished off last season very bad. They lost the Super Bowl in ’22 to the Chiefs, and then started last year 10-1, and then lost seven straight games. Starting off this year, they were rocky: 2-2 going into an off week during week five. After that week off, they became the hottest team in the league, finishing 14-3. The Chiefs have won the Super Bowl the last two years and are going for a record setting 3-peat. They were also very good this year going 15-2, although some of their wins weren’t all too convincing. They have the best QB in the league in Patrick Mahomes, so it should be an exciting game. Will the Eagles get their revenge from the 2022 Super Bowl or will the Chiefs make history becoming the first team to win 3 straight Super Bowls?

Leah: It does sound like it’s going to be an exciting game! You mentioned the Chiefs’ Quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, being the best QB in the league. Are there any other names we should know for the big game on Sunday?

Jake: Saquon Barkley. He is the Eagles running back. It’s his first year with the Eagles. He was on our bitter rivals the [New York] Giants team and decided to sign with [the Eagles] as a free agent in March. In his first year, he only needs 30 rushing yards in the first Super Bowl to break Terrell Davis’ record for most rushing yards in a season, including the post season, which is 2,476 yards. He is probably the most electric player in this Super Bowl for both teams.

Leah: What, no love for Travis Kelce?

Jake: Travis Kelce is great too, don’t get me wrong. But he is getting older and doesn’t have as much of an impact as he once did. He also has made mention of possibly retiring after this year is over.

Leah: I want to pivot and talk about another star of the Super Bowl: the food! What are you favorite game day snacks?

Jake: Chips and dip for sure! Either a buffalo chicken dip or a traditional French onion. I love some cheese, crackers, and meats. If I’m really feeling like cooking, I’ll make some nachos.

Leah: Your Buffalo Chicken Dip is amazing! Can you share the recipe with my readers?

Jake: Yes, I can!

Leah: Awesome!! Alright, last question. Who are you pulling for in Super Bowl LIX?

Jake: ….next question.

Leah: The people want to know!

Jake: The Eagles! They are my whole life, other than you of course. But seriously, ever since I can remember I’ve been an Eagles fan. My whole family is. It’s been our way to bond as a family for years. Through the highs and lows, we know that a Sunday football game gives us an excuse to sit around the tv and hangout with each other, and I think that’s special.

~A special thanks to Jake for agreeing to let me interview him for this post.~

🐃🐓 Buffalo Chicken Dip – Yay! Jake agreed to share his go-to buffalo chicken dip recipe with us! If you’re still planning out your menu for Sunday, I highly recommend you add Buffalo Chicken Dip to it. It’s creamy, cheesy, and a little spicy; the perfect dip to dunk a tortilla chip into!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Ingredients

2 (8-oz) packages cream cheese, softened

1 cup ranch dressing

1 cup mild buffalo sauce (use hot buffalo sauce if you like it spicy)

2 3/4 cups shredded cheddar cheese + more to sprinkle on top (optional)

2 (10-oz) cans chicken breast, drained

Directions

Heat oven to 400°F. In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, ranch dressing, buffalo sauce and shredded cheese until well blended. Gently stir in the chicken.

Pour dip into a 2-quart casserole dish. Sprinkle more shredded cheese on top, if you would like. Bake for 20 minutes or until dip is hot and bubbly. Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, or celery sticks for dipping.

🔢 Boyfriend Bingo – Are you headed to a Super Bowl watch party this weekend and are somewhat less-than-thrilled to go? May I recommend Boyfriend Bingo (having a significant other to play this game is not necessary, but you will need to be with someone who is a sports fanatic). I had seen the game of Boyfriend Bingo floating around on TikTok for a while now, and as someone who is the type of person to always bring a book to a sporting event but is dating someone who considers wearing a jersey as dressing up, the concept of boyfriend bingo sounded right up my alley. You don’t have to watch the game, you just have to watch the person watching the game. It’s much more fun that way!

I created my own boyfriend bingo card if you want to download it and get in on the fun!

Thanks for reading!

Let me know your plans for the weekend. Will you be tuning in for Super Bowl LIX? Also, on a scale from 1-10 how excited are you for Kendrick Lamar to perform at the halftime show? I couldn’t name a single one of his songs, but I hear he’s a wonderful performer. So I’m like at a 6.5 on the excitement scale.
