Happy Friday! Welcome to the first Weekend Edition of 2025. For those of you who are new here, this is a series where I share a round-up of 4-5 recs for you to browse/read/watch/listen to over the weekend. Think of it as a little dose of delight to kickstart your weekend. Enjoy!

✍️ Laziness Is In for 2025 – According to the trend forecasting company, WGSN, Lazy is giving the girl boss with the multi-hyphenate IG bios a run for her money. This year expect to see things like “day-jamas,” a cozier twist on loungewear that comes in bold and fun prints with pajama-inspired detailing. Another trend WGSN predicts will be all the craze is Therapeutic Laziness – a self-care ritual and a “guilt-free retreat where therapeutic rest meets beauty.” Expect to see buzzy beauty ingredients like collagen, hyaluronic acid and CBD infused in the fibers of your bedding so you can ‘treat-while-you-laze’.
What’s your thoughts about laziness being in for 2025? While I’m all for listening to your body and slowing down to rest when needed, I don’t think I need to add day-jamas or CBD infused bedding into my life.
All this talk about bed rotting being ‘in’ for 2025 has me thinking about a book I read years ago where all the main character wanted to do was sleep for a year…
📚 My Year Of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh – A young, pretty and privileged New York woman with a substantial trust fund and a substantial amount of trauma, which she seriously needs to unpack, decides to spend the year “hibernating” with the help of one of the world’s worst psychiatrists, a fistfull of prescriptions, and months of napping. Certainly one of the oddest books I’ve ever read, but something about its absurdity is the reason why the book has stayed with me for years after I finished reading it. Ottessa Moshfegh was able to bring a sense of tenderness to an otherwise insufferable main character as she deals with the fragility of grief and depression as the unnamed narrator learns sometimes the way to get through is through.
💿 December by Will Swinton – Since it was released back in December, my early morning commutes have mostly been accompanied by Will Swinton’s latest EP playing from the car stereo. If you’re into pop singer songwriters with soulful voices and soul-baring lyrics like artists Mat Kearney, Alexi Murdoch, or Ray LaMontagne, then Will’s songs will be the perfect addition to your favorite playlist.
🎥 Maria on Netflix – Legendary opera singer, Maria Callas lives the final days of her life in 1970s Paris, as she reflects on her glamorous yet tumultuous life and career in the public eye. I’m glad Angelina Jolie scored a Golden Globes nod for her portrayal of Maria Callas because she did a phenomenal job of balancing Maria’s confidence and elegant charm while also conveying her physical and emotional vulnerability leading up to her final days. And as someone who knew nothing about the famous opera singer, I thought the director, Pablo Larrain, did a beautiful job of reimagining the last days of her glamours but tragic life.
