Happy Friday! Welcome back to The Weekend Edition. A series where I share a mini medley of ideas and reviews for you to peruse. Think of it as a little dose of joy to start your weekend. Enjoy xx

📚 Bewilderment by Richard Powers – Widower and astrobiologist Theo Byrne searches for life throughout the cosmos while raising his neurodivergent son. Robin is a nine-year-old warm, kind boy who spends hours painting elaborate pictures of endangered animals. He’s also about to be expelled from third grade for smashing his friend in the face. As Robin grows more troubled, Theo hopes to keep him off psychoactive drugs. He learns of an experimental neurofeedback treatment to bolster Robin’s emotional control, one that involves training the boy on the recorded patterns of his late mother’s brain. Bewilderment felt like a modern day Flowers for Algernon, but instead of trying to improve the subject’s intelligence (like in Flowers), the focus is on improving Robin’s emotions. Bewilderment touches on themes such as grief and family. It also focuses a lot on the importance of science as well as the natural world and its destruction caused by humans. Bewilderment is a slim novel that packs a punch.
🎥 Twisters on Peacock – Haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado, Kate Cooper (Daisy Edgar-Jones) gets lured back to tornado alley by her old friend, Javi (Anthony Ramos), to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. She soon crosses paths with Tyler Owens aka the Tornado Wrangler (Glen Powell), a charismatic but reckless social-media star who thrives on posting live streams of his storm-chasing adventures. As the storm season intensifies, Kate, Tyler and their competing teams find themselves in a fight for their lives as multiple systems converge over central Oklahoma. With fast-paced action scenes, loads of charm (I’m talking about Glen Powell), and subtle hints at the importance of community and the threat of global warming, this disaster film is a thrilling ride. I guess you can say I was blown away by this remake of the 1996 hit, Twister.
✍️ Grammy Nominations 2025 – The Grammy Nominations were announced last week. Beyonce racked up 11 nominations for her “Cowboy Carter” album. Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, and Charli XCX each scored 7 nods. Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, and Chappell Roan were also nominated. Are you happy with all the nominees? Do you think anyone was snubbed? I was super bummed that “Clancy” by Twenty One Pilots wasn’t nominated for Best Alternative Music Album.
💿 Twisters: The Album – Speaking of the Grammys, The soundtrack from Twisters scored a nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media. It’s a fun album to listen to if you’re in the mood for a little country.
🛍 Disney x lululemon – How cute is this collab?!
