The Weekend Edition #3

Happy Friday! Welcome back to The Weekend Edition: a series where I share a grab-bag of ideas for your weekend ahead. Think of it as a little dose of joy to start your weekend!

In today’s post, you’ll find:

  • my thoughts on Season 4 (part 1) of Emily in Paris
  • an audiobook rec about an uber popular beauty brand
  • my thoughts on Foster The People’s latest album
  • a link to a recipe for a delicious caramelized grape(!!) and chickpea salad

📺 Emily in Paris (Season 4) on Netflix – When I wrote my first draft of this post, I kept calling it the third season of Emily in Paris. I had to go back and confirm (twice) because I couldn’t believe that Emily in Paris is on its FOURTH season! This show has been on for FOUR(!!) years, and yet I can barely recall what has happened in seasons 1-3, lol. The tweet below perfectly sums up how I feel about Emily In Paris.

This show is the perfect show to turn to when you want to shut off your brain and escape from your mile-long to-do list. The plot is easy to follow, the costumes are very costumey, and overall it’s just a good time.

My favorite line from the season so far comes from Emily’s friend, Mindy: “I can’t believe how cheap I feel in a dress this expensive.”

🎧 Glossy: Ambition, Beauty, And The Inside Story Of Emily Weiss’s Glossier by Marisa MeltzerMeltzer combines in-depth interviews with former Glossier employees, investors, and even Weiss herself to bring you inside the walls of Glossier, one of the hottest brands that completely revolutionized the beauty industry with its chic branding and unique approach to influencer marketing. I listened to the audiobook during my daily walks and was captivated by Glossier’s origin story from the beauty blog, Into The Gloss, to a billion dollar empire. If you’re hoping to gain more insight about Emily Weiss and her personal life, you will be a little disappointed. Despite agreeing to be interviewed for the book, Weiss never truly opens up with Meltzer, so her answers are short and vague. However, that didn’t keep me from enjoying the book and learning more about the beauty industry overall.

💿 Paradise State of Mind by Foster the PeopleParadise State of Mind is Foster The People’s latest album in seven years, and this album is giving out of this world vibes with a touch of 70s. Think groovy beats mixed with funky synthesizers. It’s hard to narrow down my favorite tracks off the album because they are all fantastic. However, See You In The Afterlife, Lost In Space, Paradise State of Mind, and Chasing Low Vibrations seem to be the songs I find myself randomly humming the most often. If you haven’t listened to Paradise State of Mind, you should do yourself a favor and listen it to this weekend. It will instantly brighten your day.

🥗 Caramelized Grape & Chickpea Salad – I’ll admit I was skeptical at first when I saw Sadia make this salad in a recent youtube video. Caramelized grapes?? But since the ingredient list was so simple, and I had most of the items on hand, I decided to test it out. Wowwee, it was delicious! The recipe called for lamb’s lettuce, which I couldn’t find at my local grocery store, so I used arugula which added a nice zesty, peppery taste that paired well with the sweetness from the grapes and the citrusy zing from the dressing. I’ve made the salad at least three more times since finding the recipe; although, now I amp up the salad by tossing in whatever veggies I have on hand, like cucumber, red onion, broccoli, etc.

Thanks for reading!

I hope you have a great weekend. Have you seen/read/listened to any of the recs I mentioned above? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Coming up next on The Chapman Chronicles – more recs for you to enjoy with a new Weekend Edition! I’ll see you see next Friday.

Emily in Paris!! One of THE BEST shows on Netflix right now. I can’t wait for the 2nd half of this season to come back on.
